Since it's exclusively available on Apple devices, it tends to get updates alongside iOS updates. A recent leak hints that that's the case again with iOS 18, which brings a peculiar AI feature to the app.

Here's what we know about Apple Intelligence on Apple Music and when you can try it out yourself.

Generative AI is coming to Apple Music in iOS 18

Apple Music is reportedly getting an Apple Intelligence feature in iOS 18 that will allow users to create AI-generated artwork for their playlists, as first revealed by 9to5Mac. The feature was spotted in the iOS 18 beta 4 code, released on the Apple Developer site on Tuesday.

The feature will use the Image Playground tool in Apple Intelligence to generate custom cover images for playlists. So, when you create a new playlist in Apple Music, you will soon have an option to "Create Image" rather than uploading your cover image or using one of Apple's pre-designed covers.

As someone with many playlists on my music apps, I can see how this feature might be helpful to some people. However, it will depend heavily on the quality and style of the AI-generated playlist covers. Many users might not want all of their playlist icons to be AI-generated cartoon emojis.

Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a while to see how well this feature works. The code was reportedly spotted in the latest iOS 18 beta, but the feature is not available yet, even in the developer beta. Earlier rumors indicated that Apple is planning a slow roll-out for Apple Intelligence, so some features may not launch until 2025.

It's unclear where the AI-generated playlist covers feature falls in that timeline. Still, it's likely one of the earlier features we'll see in a public iOS release since it's already in the code for a beta release and seems like a relatively small, low-power feature.

Is this the type of feature users want from Apple Intelligence?

AI-generated playlist covers aren't exactly a revolutionary application for AI, but that might come as a relief to some. After all, at least Apple doesn't seem to be interested in making AI-generated music, which has been rife with controversy and copyright issues. Even so, it seems unlikely that features like AI-generated playlist covers will be exciting enough to get people interested in Apple Intelligence.

Tim Cook clarified in an interview during WWDC 2024 that "generative AI was never off the table" for Apple. It also played a central role in the reveal presentation for Apple Intelligence on June 10, with features like AI-generated emojis in the spotlight.

Are AI-generated images enough to get people to opt-in for Apple Intelligence and use it? After all, plenty of other AI image-generation tools exist today, such as OpenAI's popular DALL-E algorithm. Apple's Image Playground tool will need to be robust enough to compete with existing image generation tools to win users over.

Of course, Apple Intelligence will be capable of much more than image generation. Apple claims it will also level up Siri and unlock new assistant capabilities like improved language processing, understanding on-screen context, generating text content, summarizing content, finding emails and messages, and more.

We'll have to wait and see how these features perform in real-world use. Apple hasn't announced an official release date for iOS 18 or the first round of Apple Intelligence features yet, but based on Apple's release date history, we're expecting to see them in mid-September. Laptop Mag will cover all the latest rumors, updates, and news surrounding iOS 18, so stay tuned for more details.

It has countless games, apps, movies, TV shows, books, and more. There are amazing deals if you look hard enough. Meanwhile, other apps are decidedly more buyer-beware — threatening to “steal sensitive information and login credentials from unsuspecting Android owners,” as Laptop Mag reported in May.

Google is renovating the sometimes chaotic shopping experience into something more welcoming and organized—a place where the tech giant hopes you will spend much more time.

It seems the Play store will dramatically change in 2024 and 2025; the updates began in earnest this month when the company announced that scores of sketchy or low-quality apps would be removed from the store on August 31. Google wants to “ensure apps meet uplifted standards for the Play catalog,” the company has announced.

App removal is the first part of the renovation job. The second part was revealed on Tuesday to reporters inside Google's warehouse-styled New York offices on the west side of Manhattan. Google product managers and one marathon-wary executive showed off the new features coming to the Play Store this week and later this month.

Sam Bright, Google Play's Vice President and General Manager, introduced how Google Play would expand "beyond the store" to include new features.

"We know that developers have come up with an app for just about every problem, situation, or interest out there," Bright said. "This is an incredible benefit for users, but many users, including myself, have great apps on their phones that sometimes go unused."

Bright said that Android app users are happy to have a wealth of apps from which to choose but conceded they need help finding them. Moreover, they don’t spend time in the app store. There hasn’t been a good enough reason to.

“App stores today have become a place where people download an app. And in some cases, they don’t visit again until it’s time for them to download the next one. We want to change that here in Play,” Bright said.

“With experiences in Play on your home screen and across apps, we’re taking Play from a destination people visit for apps to an end-to-end experience that’s more than a store.”

Below is how the company hopes users will see Play as more than just a store in the months ahead. Like most things with Google, these new features create more opportunities for the company to learn about its users — their interests, behaviors, shopping habits, and more — to gain insights to help it strike deals with retailers and app developers.

Google Collections debuts

Ting Mui Li, a Google product manager, in front of a screens that shows the first seven Google Play Collections categories. (Image credit: Future)

Among the new features is one called Collections, which launched on Wednesday. Essentially, it groups updates from related apps and presents them in feeds. For example, Bright explained that if you’re running a marathon, Collections will group updates from the running app Strava, the fundraising app GoFundMe, and the fitness app MyFitnessTracker into a single feed. If you’re a shopper, it will collect updates from your browsing history on apps like Walmart, Adidas, and Best Buy.

To start, Google is only sorting apps into seven categories for its Collections feature (“watch,” “listen,” “read,” “game,” “food,” “shop,” and “social”), but there are plans for more (“health & fitness,” “travel & events,” “sports,” and “dating”) soon. Users will be able to make their own custom categories in the future—just not quite yet.

If you enjoy being reminded of what's going on in your apps — because, maybe, like me, you forget you have some apps — Collections will be a welcome addition to Play. If you're constantly pulling up individual apps all the time, this may not be that much of a game-changer. But Google rarely rolls out initiatives like this without terabytes of data to support it, and the longevity of recommendation-focused features like Google Discover indicates that Collections may be sticky among users.

Ting Mui Li, a Google product manager, tells Laptop Mag that eventually, Google Discover content—aka web pages—will be recommended in collections if it aligns with the theme of those apps.

“Web will come later, and we could totally see being able to give more content suggestions and recommendations for different collections,” Li said on Tuesday.

For example, if you have the NBA app and the Brooklyn Nets App in your “sports” collection, Google may recommend an article from The Athletic about the Nets in the collection.

Google Comics is coming to Japan

Another new Play feature is Comics, which signals how Google wants Play to become more than a store through content consumption. Comics is a curated manga and webtoons shop and reader that will first be launched in Japan.

A throttle against all these personalized recommendations in the new Play (Google reps rarely — never? — called it the “Play Store” during various demos) is a personalization feature that helpfully allows you to turn off app personalization suggestions. If you don't want to get suggestions or updates from an app (for example: The toilet paper you were eyeballing in the Walmart app has just been put on sale, and you receive a notification about it), you can turn it off.

A Google product manager confirmed that if you don’t want to receive recommendations, Google won’t show them. However, it will still collect your data about your toilet paper interest.

Google Play Games and Google Play Points

Gaming is also getting several cool upgrades. Google Play Games will enable users to switch seamlessly from their Android device to their computer via the Android app Google Play Games on PC. “You can start a mobile game on your commute and then secure the win at home on your tablet or PC,” writes Bright in a post on Google’s Keyword Blog published Wednesday.

“With our new multi-game capabilities rolling out over the next few weeks, PC gamers can play multiple titles at the same time — actively competing in one while keeping an eye on resources in another.” So, how many games could you play at once? Well, that’s likely limited to your computing power, said Google product manager Artem Yudin during a product demo on Tuesday.

Sam Bright, Google Play's Vice President and General Manager, talks about how users will be able to select their gaming interests so Play can recommend new games to them. (Image credit: Future)

Related to gaming is the Google Play Points scheme, which is also getting an upgrade. Interestingly, Google is also letting users redeem those points for physical products. Announced in 2019, the points system gets a little more real as users can cash in their points (earned via purchases in the Play store) for physical Google products like a Pixel Watch or Pixel phone.

How Google will monetize these new features

It’s easy to imagine how Google, which also released its quarterly earnings on Tuesday, intends to monetize these new features through direct deals or data capture. Li and Das offered the same response to Laptop Mag about the new features: Google wants to launch, see what organically sticks and what users like, and then expand.

With the “uplifted” standard Google is implementing and removing violating apps later this summer, plus the rollout of new features to make Google Play a more significant part of your phone, the image of Google Play as an open-air bazaar may soon be replaced by something like a walled garden—something where an Apple might grow.

Thanks to a Tuesday report from The Information, we have some new details on the heavily rumored foldable iPhone, which I imagine will be called the iPhone Fold.

A few months ago, The Information reported on Apple contacting a manufacturer about parts for foldable phones. Now, it seems Apple is one step further in the process, creating an internal code name for the foldable iPhone: V68.

According to The Information, this move could "[signal] that the idea has moved beyond the conceptual stage and is now an official product in development with suppliers." If true, we might see an iPhone fold launch as soon as 2026.

Of course, it's worth noting that just because the 'iPhone Fold' has an internal code name and is seemingly moving forward in production. That said, this is a positive sign for the future of foldable iPhones. And if Apple is business-savvy — which historically, it is — creating a foldable iPhone soon to compete with Google's and Samsung's foldable phones would be a smart move.

The report from The Information also details a few design specifics, including one major problem Apple may have overcome.

Apple's foldable iPhone design moves forward

According to The Information, Apple's engineers working on the foldable iPhone were facing a big problem: making the phone "half as thin as current iPhone models so it wouldn't be too thick when shut." Now, it seems this problem may have been solved.

Reportedly, Apple has developed a "significantly thinner iPhone, internally code-named D23." If this innovation can translate from a traditional iPhone to a foldable iPhone, Apple's teams can move on to other potential issues, like preventing a display crease after multiple folds and making sure there's a market for the 'iPhone Fold.'

That said, if the foldable iPhone has really moved past the conceptual stage and into the development stage, I'd argue that most major issues have already been resolved.

The foldable iPhone will supposedly "fold widthwise like a clamshell," according to "two people with direct knowledge of the matter" via The Information. This means it'll resemble Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip series, not the Galaxy Z Fold series.

Apple is known for delivering a polished product, even for the first-gen, whether it's hardware or software, even if this means extending its release date. After all, Apple was fashionably late to the AI game, but it seems to have paid off — Apple Intelligence isn't here yet, but it looks quite promising.

If you don't anticipate needing to upgrade your iPhone until 2026, it might be worth holding out for the 'iPhone Fold.' Otherwise, your options include the existing iPhone 15 lineup, or the upcoming iPhone 16 series.

However, according to a new rumor, one of those fan-favorite features might be missing from the upcoming iPhone SE 4.

Thanks to reliable tipster Ice Universe via Weibo, the iPhone SE 4 will likely ditch its smaller form factor. A 6.06-inch OLED display will reportedly replace the iPhone SE 3's existing 4.7-inch LCD display.

This new rumor aligns with an old report from The Elec in March 2023, which predicted the iPhone SE 4 would switch to OLED. The report speculated that Apple would likely use old parts previously designated for the "iPhone 13 from 2021 or the iPhone 14 from 2022" (translated from Chinese), which also have 6.06-inch, or 6.1-inch rounded, displays.

With the iPhone 13 mini and its 5.42-inch display already gone, Apple will no longer offer new iPhones with displays smaller than 6.1 inches.

Although this is the biggest rumored change for Apple's iPhone SE 4, it's not the only upgrade we're expecting.

More anticipated changes for the iPhone SE 4

The iPhone SE 4's expected display upgrade—from a 4.7-inch LCD screen to a 6.1-inch OLED screen—will most likely raise its price.

The current iPhone SE starts at $429, and it's possible the next-gen iPhone SE could jump to $469 or even higher, but we're hoping it stays under $500 to retain its 'budget-friendly' nature. This $469 price is based on an estimate from The Elec that the cost to produce OLED for the iPhone SE 4 is around $40, but if the iPhone SE 4 receives other hardware upgrades, the price could go up more than $40.

Based on historical trends, the iPhone SE 4 will likely receive an A16 Bionic chip — a generational upgrade over the current iPhone SE's A15 Bionic chip — but chip upgrades don't usually amount to an increase in a phone's base price.

The iPhone SE 4 could also receive a much-needed refresh on its camera setup, and we're hoping to see improved battery life. However, there's a long wait between now and its potential release date in 2025. Check out all the iPhone SE 4 rumors we've heard so far to see if this upcoming budget-friendly phone is worth waiting for.

Samsung's more budget-friendly Galaxy S phone still delivers a strong feature set, and right now, it's available for just $449 at Amazon, $150 off the list price, and the lowest it's been since Black Friday 2023.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE draws inspiration from the flagship S23 series, making it a good choice for consumers who appreciate Samsung design but don't want to spring for a full-blown flagship device (and don't want the more pared-down A series, either). At one time, the "FE" designation stood for Fan Edition, but Samsung now just labels it FE.

Samsung is continuing to update with Galaxy AI features, and it already received the OneUI 6.1 update adding text message and photo AI features.

If you're not specifically looking for a flagship smartphone with an eye-watering price, then take a look at the Galaxy S23 FE.

You're usually getting most of the performance for a fraction of the price, and when they go on sale you can save even more.

The best phone deals we could find in this price bracket all happen to be from Best Buy, with some great savings on Motorola, Samsung, and OnePlus handsets. There's even a great deal on the newly-released Google Pixel 8a — a handset we expect to see rocket onto our best smartphones list in the near future. If you're looking to purchase and activate a carrier then the Best Buy deals are unbeaten, but Amazon is price-matching some of the handset-only prices.

So, it's not surprising Apple may be considering ending its Plus-series iPhones starting with the iPhone 17.

New rumors hint that Apple isn't just planning to drop the iPhone 17 Plus from its line-up. Apple is planning to replace the iPhone 17 Plus with an all-new, premium version of the iPhone 17 featuring an enticing design update.

On July 20, rumors leaked on the Chinese social media platform Weibo hinting that Apple's iPhone 17 line-up will not include a Plus model. Instead, Apple is reportedly planning to launch a new "Slim" iPhone, which will become the most premium model in the iPhone line-up, akin to the Apple Watch Ultra.

The "iPhone 17 Slim" will take design cues from the iPad Pro M4, which launched in May as Apple's thinnest product ever. Laptop Mag previously reported earlier rumors from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that corroborate this most recent rumor about an ultra-thin iPhone on the horizon.

It's still unclear how much slimmer the iPhone 17 Slim will be compared to the base and Pro models, but the difference should be noticeable. This weekend's rumors on Weibo also shared that Apple is planning to configure the entire iPhone 17 line-up with LTPO displays, which means every iPhone 17 will feature ProMotion (120Hz refresh rate), which is currently only available on Pro models.

The iPhone 17 line-up is also rumored to feature Apple's A19 and A19 Pro processors. The iPhone 17 Slim will be the most premium model in the line-up, so there's no doubt it will have the A19 Pro. It will also be the most expensive iPhone in the line-up, though, so getting your hands on the new ultra-thin design won't come cheap. The rumors shared on Weibo this weekend reported that the iPhone 17 Slim could start at $1,299, making it even more expensive than the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which currently starts at $1,199.

According to this weekend's rumors, this is what the iPhone 17 line-up could look like:

iPhone 17: $799, A19 processor, 6.27-inch LTPO (ProMotion) display, 8GB of RAM

iPhone 17 Pro: $1,099, A19 Pro processor, 6.27-inch LTPO (ProMotion) display, 12GB of RAM

iPhone 17 Pro Max: $1,199, A19 Pro processor, 6.86-inch LTPO (ProMotion) display, 12GB of RAM

iPhone 17 Slim/Ultra: $1,299, A19 Pro processor, 6.65-inch LTPO (ProMotion) display, 12GB of RAM

Apple's ultra-thin tech game plan

The iPhone 17 Slim isn't the only ultra-thin Apple product in the pipeline over at Cupertino. Recent rumors indicate that Apple is planning to revamp all of its main products with thinner designs including the iPhone, MacBook, and Apple Watch. This is exciting but also poses some major challenges for Apple's design team, challenges that will be crucial to making these products higher quality, not just thinner.

Battery life is arguably the biggest hurdle. There are legitimate technical reasons why phones, tablets, laptops, and smartwatches are as thick as they are. It's no small feat to make a battery thinner and smaller without compromising battery life.

Apple will need to find a way to give the iPhone 17 Slim at least as much battery life as the Pro Max iPhones, if not more. After all, if it is going to be the most expensive model in the iPhone 17 line-up, it needs to have the best specs.

Durability is also a concern. While thinner products are certainly eye-catching, they can face a higher risk of bending.

Many Apple fans will remember the infamous "bendgate" scandal Apple faced several years ago with the iPhone 6. Now Apple is planning to launch an iPhone that will likely be even thinner than the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. How will its design team create a thinner chassis that isn't prone to bending? We'll have to wait and see.

Laptop Mag will be covering all of the latest news and rumors surrounding the iPhone 17 and Apple's new era of ultra-thin tech, so stay tuned for more details and insights.

We'll answer those questions and more to help you discover everything you need to know about Apple Intelligence.

Apple Intelligence release date

The only official information we have from Apple on a release date is that Apple Intelligence will debut with iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia (or macOS 15) sometime in the fall.

<img id="JKU2xrSmxhANNZVTbmjF3K" name="apple-intelligence-rumor-lede-maybe.jpg" alt="Tim Cook on stage gesturing to an Apple logo beside the phrase "Apple Intelligence"" src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/JKU2xrSmxhANNZVTbmjF3K.jpg" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="1920" height="1080" attribution="" endorsement="" class="">

We won't have an official launch date for iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 until Apple announces its September event. You can try the iOS 18 public beta right now, but Apple Intelligence won't be integrated until presumably the official launch.

There's no guarantee that September will be the month these new operating systems launch, but it's the trend we're used to. We're expecting iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 — and therefore, Apple Intelligence — on a Monday in September, likely September 9, 16, or 23.

The release date for macOS Sequoia and its Apple Intelligence features is a bit more uncertain. In the past five years, macOS has launched in September, October, and November, so there's no way to know which month in the fall Apple plans to launch the next macOS.

Apple Intelligence compatibility

Looking at the list of devices compatible with Apple Intelligence, they all appear to be devices released within the past three years and equipped with Apple's M-series silicon chip, except for supported iPhones.

Overall, there's a wide range of support, and most people who've recently invested in a new tablet or computer from Apple will be able to take advantage of snazzy Apple Intelligence features when they're available. But unfortunately, Apple Intelligence with iOS 18 won't work for most iPhone users — only those with an iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max will gain Apple Intelligence features.

Apple Intelligence features

One of the biggest features Apple Intelligence is bringing system-wide to iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia is Writing Tools.

With Writing Tools, Apple users will be able to "rewrite, proofread, and summarize text nearly everywhere they write, including Mail, Notes, Pages, and third-party apps."

Basically, if you're writing something, anything, on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, you can use Writing Tools to help you perfect your wording. And if you're reading something, Writing Tools can help make it easier to digest, whether you want to see a full summary of the info or see it organized into a table, list, or key points.

In addition to helping you write emails, Apple Intelligence can help you manage your inbox with Priority Messages. At the top of your Mail inbox, you'll see the most urgent emails you've received, along with a summary of what the email includes or is about. Apple says these urgent emails could include "a same-day dinner invitation or boarding pass."

To assist you further, you can quickly respond with the Smart Reply suggestions, which are formed instantly with the tap of a button and can be adjusted based on your answers to specific questions the feature identifies in the email you're responding to.

Apple Intelligence also brings several new features to the Notes and Phone apps. You can initiate a recording while on a call, have that recording transcribed in a new Note, and then use Apple Intelligence to help you summarize the call with highlighted points.

Last but certainly not least, Apple Intelligence will offer image creation capabilities.

Apple is calling this particular AI-powered feature 'Image Playground.' This on-device feature will be built into specific apps, including Messages and Notes, allowing you to generate an image with one of three styles: Animation, Illustration, or Sketch.

Or, you can load the dedicated Image Playground app to create an image from a text prompt, a photo from your personal library, or categories like "themes, costumes, accessories, and places."

Similarly, you'll be able to create a custom, AI-generated Genmoji in Messages using Apple Intelligence. You can type a description or use a photo from your library to create a Genmoji, and once it's created, you can add it inline to messages or share it in a Tapback as a sticker or reaction.

Apple Intelligence and Siri

Siri originally launched in 2011 — yes, it's really been that long — and it hasn't changed much since. To say Siri was due for an overhaul is an understatement.

Apple partnered with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT to Siri to make its chatbot "more natural, more contextually relevant, and more personal," thanks to the addition of "richer language-understanding capabilities." With these upgrades, it's even possible Apple's Siri may leapfrog Google Assistant. Additional LLMs are likely to be available in the future if you prefer Google Gemini for example, but ChatGPT is the first.

You can speak to the new Siri with more natural language, even if that means stumbling over your words or correcting yourself, and your request will be processed seamlessly. Say goodbye to the days of Siri asking you, "Can you repeat that?"

Siri can also take a look at your screen for context, a feature Apple calls 'on-screen awareness.' For example, say a friend texts you their new address. You could ask Siri to add the address to that friend's contact card, and Siri would be able to understand who you're talking about based on the conversation you had pulled up on your screen and carry out the task.

It'll also be possible for Siri to gain context from different apps and perform multiple in-app actions across apps. You could say, "Siri, find that conversation I had with Ivana about books," and Siri would pull up relevant texts, emails, or other messages from Ivana that involve books.

Possibly one of the best features to come out of Siri's Apple Intelligence update is the ability to text to Siri instead of talk. It's not always possible to ask Siri your question out loud, like if you're in a college lecture or on a subway, so being able to switch to typing is incredibly useful.

Apple Intelligence privacy

Privacy concerns regarding Apple Intelligence have understandably been high, especially after Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that Apple's AI features won't run entirely on your device. Instead, the work will be split between users' devices and Apple-owned data centers running M2 chips.

<img id="nb9cPmF6i2ivxLUPdLWYzL" name="Screenshot 2024-05-08 at 3.22.20 PM.png" alt="Tim Cook during the Apple "Let Loose" event livestream on May 7, 2024." src="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/nb9cPmF6i2ivxLUPdLWYzL.png" mos="" align="middle" fullscreen="" width="1264" height="705" attribution="" endorsement="" class="">

Apple knows how important privacy is for its users, and according to their Apple Intelligence page, this split between processing methods won't impact privacy.

The company says on-device processing makes your iPhone, iPad, or Mac "aware of your personal information without collecting your personal information." Apple explains that its "larger server-based models, running on Apple silicon" will be there to assist with "more complex requests" while maintaining your privacy.

The tagline on the Apple Intelligence privacy section is: "Great powers come with great privacy." And we can only hope this is true, despite Apple's partnership with OpenAI on its AI chatbot, which has raised concerns in many due to OpenAI's questionable measures for safety and privacy of users.

Outlook

Apple waited a while to jump into the AI game, and it looks like their patience paid off. Apple Intelligence holds many features we've wanted to see from iPhones, iPads, and Macs for years, and it seems to carry them out incredibly well.

Of course, we won't know just how great these features are until iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia officially debut this fall (and it's disappointing that you'll need an iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max to experience Apple Intelligence in iOS 18). But if the features live up to their demonstrations at WWDC 2024, it'll be a great time to be an Apple fan in fall 2024.

After multiple leaks of the Pixel 9 Pro and the rest of the lineup, Google decided to create its own teaser for the Pixel 9 Pro — and quite masterfully, I'd say.

In an X post on Thursday, a text prompt to Gemini reads, "Write me a breakup letter. Tell them I've found something new. That actually feels magical. Not just the same old thing. Oh, and have it start, 'Dear Old Phone.'" In an artful transition, the text appears on a phone screen, which is soon flipped around and called out as the Google Pixel 9 Pro.

This teaser video simultaneously showcases Google Gemini's capabilities and reveals the major design change we've all expected from the Pixel 9 Pro for months: no more iconic camera bar.

A first look at the Pixel 9 Pro's design

We've seen leaked prototypes of the Pixel 9 Pro in recent months, but there was always a chance that they could've been prototypes from earlier in the production process or even faked prototypes. This official first look from Google confirms what we thought we knew.

The Pixel 9 Pro will indeed ditch the iconic, edge-to-edge camera bar that adorned every Pixel phone since the Pixel 6 in 2021. In its place, there will be a pill-shaped camera array with three prominent lenses.

A phone built for the Gemini era. It can do a lot—even let your old phone down easy.
The teaser briefly shows us the phone's display, but there's no way to discern the display's size. However, we can see its sleek white colorway, with rounded corners reminiscent of Apple's newest iPhone designs.

If Google's official design tease lines up with Pixel 9 Pro leaks on Rozetked, then perhaps the photo of the prototype's boot screen — which revealed 16GB of RAM and 128GB of storage — and Rozetked's confirmation of the phone being equipped with a Tensor G4 chipset can also be believed.

The Made by Google event can't get here fast enough

At the end of the video, Google teases the date of August 13, which is when the next Made by Google event is scheduled.

In addition to the Pixel 9 Pro, we're expecting to see the rest of the Pixel lineup revealed. This includes the base Pixel 9, as well as potentially new additions to the lineup, like the Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Fold.

Google may also reveal the Pixel Watch 3, which would be well-timetimed following Samsung's recent Galaxy Ring and Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra launch.

And, of course, we can't forget the likely star of the show: Gemini. With the debut of Apple Intelligence and the newest GPT-4o model from OpenAI, Google inevitably wants to show off what Gemini can do. It'll be neat to see which features Google can match its competitors on.

There's less than a month between now and Made by Google 2024 on August 13, and we'll be eagerly checking Google's accounts for any more official Pixel 9 Pro reveals until then.
